Intensive training results in Green
Berets for lucky 13
It was definitely ‘ good luck ‘ for 13 Royal Marines Reservists who
earned their coverted Green Berets after 18 months of intensive
training. At their Passing Out Parade at RNHQ, the Salute was taken
by their Honorary Colonel and Chairman of NW RFCA, Colonel Charles
Hillock who was escorted by the new CO of RMR Merseyside, Lt Col Jeff
Moulton. A large number of families witnessed the occasion and also
heard Col Hillock congratulate the Reservists and welcome them into
the elite ‘ Royal Marines Family’.
After the Parade everyone retired to the Drill Deck and the 13
narrated one by one their training, with slides, so that the families
could see the outstanding performance, dedication and hardship they
had gone through.
Best Recruit
his Trophy plus
wife Sarah and
TRAINING DAY FOR LUOTC
A Management Development
Training Day for LUOTC was
arranged for all Regular, TA and
civil servants, at Coed Llandegla
North Wales, a Forestry
Commission estate managed by
Tinhill and run by ‘One Planet
Adventure’.
When we arrived groups where
split. One half went off to sample
the mountain bike experience
on the purpose built trail, and
tested themselves on the steep
hills. The other group went on a
wet walk along the ‘Orange’ Trail,
to explore the eastern part of the
forest and the reservoir.
Nell, Lt Col Ed Flute’s dog,
volunteered as the Unit Walking
Leader, even though at one stage
she lost the trail in the mist!
Both groups met up after the
activities for a much deserved
excellent lunch
A good day was had by all
despite the weather conditions,
which actually refreshed us for
another day back in the office!
Coed Llandegla is well worth
a visit for anyone after ideas
of where to go. It has just been
voted ‘best MTB trail centre in
Wales’, this is not just for the
awesome MTB and walking
trails but the food and drinks
from it’s café.
