4 Personnel protective equipment<br />
4.1 Recommended PPE <strong>for</strong> flight crews:<br />
4.1.1 Flying helmets manufactured to appropriate industry standards should be worn by<br />
pilots <strong>for</strong> all external load <strong>operations</strong> and the company should have a fitting procedure<br />
to ensure optimum protection.<br />
4.1.2 Further PPE recommended <strong>for</strong> flight crews:<br />
1. Fire retardant coveralls.<br />
2. Suitable footwear.<br />
3. Sunglasses.<br />
4. Climate related clothing.<br />
5. Sun cream, barrier cream, insect repellant, etc.<br />
4.2 Recommended PPE <strong>for</strong> engineers and ground crews:<br />
4.2.1 PPE recommended <strong>for</strong> Engineers and Ground Crews, as appropriate <strong>for</strong> their role:<br />
1. Fire retardant coveralls.<br />
2. Suitable footwear, safety boots <strong>for</strong> engineers and other personnel handling<br />
heavy loads.<br />
3. Hard hats with chinstraps attached to the helmet itself.<br />
4. Goggles.<br />
5. Hearing protection.<br />
6. Gloves, chemical grade <strong>for</strong> refueling personnel.<br />
7. Distinctive colored vests should be worn by ground personnel <strong>for</strong> ease of<br />
recognition to designate specific tasks being per<strong>for</strong>med.<br />
8. Climate related clothing.<br />
