In this course parents will continue their participation in the<br />

children’s programs. Exploration and enhancement or specific<br />

parenting skills will be facilitated. Participation in the <strong>Ohlone</strong><br />

Child Development Programs is required. This course is for<br />

returning parents of children who have been enrolled in ECS-<br />

326A for at least four previous semesters. Repeatable = 3 times<br />

implementation of their children’s preschool experience. Under<br />

the direction of the instructor and children’s teachers, parents<br />

share skills and information with ECS-326A and ECS-326B<br />

Development Programs is required. This course is for returning<br />

Math and Science Future Teacher Seminar<br />

This course is designed to provide students pursuing a career in<br />

secondary school math or science teaching with theory and<br />

hands-on experience working with children in math and science<br />

skills at a local elementary or secondary school. This course<br />

includes work with mathematics and science material,<br />

assessment, methodology, and the school environment. The<br />

course includes 50 hours of on-site field experience, as a service<br />

learning component, in a local elementary or secondary school.<br />

Tutor Training Part I<br />

Corequisite: Employment as a tutor at <strong>Ohlone</strong> <strong>College</strong> for at<br />

least 25 hours<br />

This course covers effective methods for tutoring. The do’s and<br />

don’ts of tutoring, study skills, and questioning techniques are a<br />

few of the topics covered. Students enrolling in this course must<br />

be concurrently employed as a tutor at <strong>Ohlone</strong> <strong>College</strong>. CRLA<br />

has approved this course for certification, and students who<br />

receive CRLA certification are qualified to tutor at any of the over<br />

500 colleges in the U.S. and Canada that have CRLA programs.<br />

Tutor Training Part II<br />

9.00 hrs lecture<br />

Units: 0.50<br />

Corequisite: Employment as a tutor at <strong>Ohlone</strong> <strong>College</strong> for at<br />

least 25 hours<br />

This course continues on from Part I with additional effective<br />

methods of tutoring. Learning styles, structuring the learning<br />

experience, handling ch<strong>all</strong>enging situations, and being inventive<br />

are among the topics covered. Students enrolling in this course<br />

must be concurrently employed as a tutor at <strong>Ohlone</strong> <strong>College</strong>.<br />

Leads to CRLA certification. Repeatable = 1 time (CR)<br />
