WELD 106 WELDING TECHNICAL ORIENTATION I<br />
The focus of this course is on fundamentals of beginning welding theory with<br />
emphasis on safety. Oxyacetylene Welding and Shielded Metal Arc Welding<br />
processes for joining common materials are discussed. Other commonly used<br />
processes including manipulative skills, welding consumables, electrical principles<br />
and applications are investigated and applied.<br />

WELD 107 WELDING TECHNICAL ORIENTATION II<br />
Technical Orientation II is designed to be the second theory class (a continuation<br />
of WELD 106) a welding student would enter as he or she endeavors to<br />
complete the program. The course is designed to focus on the WHAT of<br />
advanced welding processes, specifically, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, PAW,<br />
PAC and CAC-A. Emphasis is placed on equipment selection, classification<br />
of electrodes and safe work habits while welding both ferrous and nonferrous<br />
metals.<br />
Prerequisite: WELD 106 or permission of instructor.<br />

WELD 145 APPLIED PROBLEM SOLVING<br />
Uses a lecture/discovery format to augment the math instruction intrinsic in<br />
Automotive, Technical Design or Welding curricula. Uses math concepts and<br />
models to enhance problem-solving skills required in the workplace. (Same as<br />
AUT-T 145 and TEC-D 145)<br />
Prerequisite: MATH 090 with a grade of 2.0 or above or satisfactory placement test<br />
score and concurrent enrollment in or completion of ATA requirements in AUT-T or TEC-D<br />
or WELD vocational programs.<br />
