1.6 Co-operation
The AASS research effort builds upon two types of co-operation: industrial and academic.
The latter one has both national and international dimension.
1.6.1 Industrial cooperation
• ABB Robotics, Västerås - industrial robotics; development of new specific constructions
for industrial robots; contract for co-operation (KK);
• ABB Automation Products AB, Dept. AMC, Västerås - advanced industrial control
systems, development; test and implementation of model-based fuzzy control techniques;
feasibility study on vision-based quality control of cold rolling mills production; contract
for co-operation (KK);
• FFV Aerotech Telub AB, Örebro - visual servoing techniques for airborne platforms;
contract for co-operation (KK);
• HARDI Electronics AB, Lund - design of electronic circuits; joint FPGA-based design
and implementation of high-speed image and signal processing; contract for co-operation
(KK) being discussed.
• Bofors Defence AB, Karlskoga, Sweden - perceptual sensor fusion architectures and
applications; one joint PhD student; contract for co-operation (KK)
• Amphitech AB, Askersund, Sweden - on-line quality measurement of drinking water.
• Elumotion Ltd, Bath, UK - development of an artificial sensory hand.
• Cerealia R&D, Järna, Sweden - automation in food manufacturing.
• NIROS, Karlskoga, Sweden - using autonomous systems for rescue operations: a
preliminary study.
1.6.2 National Cooperation
1.6.2.1 Scientific cooperation
- KTH, Center for Autonomous Systems: joint organization of the 2nd Swedish Workshop
on Autonomous Robotics
- Joint research project on medical image processing with University Hospital, Örebro, on
detection and diagnosis of abnormalities in human breast tissue.
- Joint application to the VINNOVA VINVÄXT Program with MdH, KTH, and 20 other
industrial companies: winner of the first phase of the competition.
