On Tuesday, September 7, we were honored to have
Maria Heaton, a Palmer resident and author of Dusting
Off the Ashes, for a book discussion and signing.
Maria’s book tells the story of William Curtin’s journey
dealing with post traumatic stress syndrome. Bill
Curtin was an eyewitness to the devastating attack
on September 11, 2001, at Ground Zero.
Children News:
What a summer we had this year at the Palmer
Branch! We had 674 children signed up ~ the most
ever!!!! The staff of the Palmer Branch would like
to thank all our children for reading and helping the
Easton Area Public Library and its branches reach
the goal of reading 5,000 books this summer. We
were able to adopt Ariel, a Manatee from Homosassa
Springs Wildlife State Park, Florida.
Along with the many programs, prizes, craft sessions
and book talks, we would like to thank the
businesses in our community that helped make this
year’s program so enjoyable for our children as well
as all the volunteers that helped us throughout a
very busy summer. It is the generosity and support
of our community that helps make our summer reading
program the success that it has become.
Library Information You May Not Know…
State public library funding has taken another hit
decrease in last year’s budget, public libraries must
now deal with another 9% cut in the 2010-2011
state appropriation.
How will this affect you as an Easton Area Public
Library patron? We’re just beginning to consider
cuts, but a few have been decided. One is in the
number of copies of new best sellers purchased. You
