Tue sday at 2100 . This net is to provide information on Packet <strong>Radio</strong> for<br />

t he beginner a nd the advanced packeteer. All are we lcome .<br />

MAY CLUB MEETING<br />

THIS WILL BE OUR FIRST MEETING IN OUR NEW LOCATI ON: LINCOLN MI DDLE<br />

SCHOOL ON ESCONDIDO AVE. BETWEEN EUCALYPTUS AND EAST VI STA WAY I N VISTA.<br />

The meeting will be held in the cafeteria. Plenty o f parking is avail able<br />

at the north side of the school, adjacent to, and e asily acces sible from,<br />

East Vista Way near Escondido Ave. Parking is also available acr oss Escondido<br />

Ave. from the School in the Vista City Hall p a r king l o t and on the<br />

street adj acent thereto. See the map and diagram furthe r on i n Scope .<br />

Those who must park close to the meeting site may do s o by i nforming W9FQN<br />

of s uch a requirement two days prior to the meeting .<br />

THE PROGRAM for the evening will be presented by a f ield crew from KFMB,<br />

TV-8 from San Diego, who will help us to celebrate our 50th Anniversary by<br />

recording parts of the club meeting for airing on t he 11 :00 news the same<br />

night. TV- 8 's t echnical crew will also t alk t o u s about how the news i s<br />

r ecorded and transmitted back to the station.<br />

SHOW AND TELL will feature portable HT power pac k s a nd other items of<br />

interest brought in by club members.<br />

COFFEE AND THE USUAL NO-CAL GOODIES by Vina and all of u s kind e nough to<br />

bri ng some of those tasty non-fattening little mou t h - wa tering j ewels ! Vina<br />

. APRIL CLUB MEETI NG .<br />

At the April club meeting Bob Traynor, WA7GRW, and Kerry Banke , N6IZW,<br />

t old us about X-band microwave and how to get start ed in i t . The y a lso<br />

showed us some of their equipment to operate on this band whe r e 1/4 wavelength<br />

is .28 inches. Bob Hoover, KA6HZF, showed u s his 12VDC C-64/ PK-64<br />

packet radio station. W9FQN indicated t hat no meeti ng place had been<br />

picked out for the May meeting, but that a decisi on would be made at t he<br />

for t hcoming Executive Committee meeting and the r esult announced in t he May<br />

Sc ope. N6INN announced that the new VE testing site had not been found y e t<br />

and t hat the last tests at Glendale Fed would be t he ones conducted on<br />

April 12. Coffee by Vina and goodies by Susan and Linda Rohrer . Wonder f ul!<br />

Another very full house! It'll be great to have enough room f or our 1 00+<br />

gatherings so that we can get around and see each o t her , get to the e x hibits<br />

and the coffee. Glendale Fed has been good to u s for ten years o r so,<br />

but it' s well we have to leave - we've outgrown theml Nearl y one-third of<br />

our membership of 321 now comes to meetings!<br />

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING<br />

The Executive Committee, consisting of the Cl ub's officers and committee .<br />

c hairmen, meets on the second Thursday o f t he mont h at the home of var i ous<br />

o f i ts members. Without fail, the meetings usua l l y start at 7: 30 of the<br />

p.m. <strong>Club</strong> members are welcome to attend and obser ve .<br />

At the April meeting, which was held at the home o f W9FQN, the Committee<br />

voted to utilize the cafeteria at Lincoln Middle Sc hool on Escondido Ave.<br />

i n Vi sta for future club meetings; and to sell the second Motor ola MSY 450<br />

mHz repeater back to WA7GRW. The Committee discussed the fina ncial strain<br />

p laced on the <strong>Club</strong> by the 500% increase in liability insur ance ( f rom $150<br />

to $750); the problems with the obvious disarray o f A.R.E.S. a nd the ­<br />

SCOPE - May ' 86 Page 2
