The PARC VE Team's "turn in the barrel" will be on Saturday afternoon,
September 6th. Naturally, I would like for all of you to apply, be approved
by SANDARC-VEC, take in the Convention in the morning, and join us
for the testing of applicants in the afternoon. If, however, we are overstaffed
for that session SANDARC-VEC may ask for help at another. More VE
Convention details as available. Meanwhile, if you hold a current Extra or
Advanced Class license, send a copy of it to SANDARC-VEC with the completed
Application. Then contact me and I will follow up. I will then ask you to
attend our July or August testing session, and qualify to administer exams
and certify successful applicants to the FCC. As of this writing, all code
tests continue to be given only by Extra Class operators.
AMATEUR RADIO CLUB AT POTTER JUNIOR HIGH IN FALLBROOK
Phil, WF6L, Band Director, and Bob Bauersfeld, KF6LP, Principal, announce
the formation of a ham radio station and club at Potter Junior High.
Thanks to Art, WA6IPD, (who read about the need for gear in the Scope)
the station is equipped with a Swan SOOCX, phone patch mike, TH33Jr beam
and rotor, all donated by Harry Parker, W6ASQ, formerly of Fallbrook. Art
donated his time and equipment and put Potter Jr. High on the air.
Contacts cover 10 states and two countries in two weeks of demonstration.
DOWN THE TOOBE
We hear that the May issue of Guideposts Magazine had a nice one page
article on Paul Stack, WA6IPF, and his work on the Missionary Net.
Bud, KG6VX, tells us that his XYL Caroline has received her Novice ticket
r- and is now KB6MPZ.
Bob Gonsett's CGC COMMUNICATOR says consumer black & white TV sets,
radios and tape players are no longer made in the U.S. according to Industry
Week. No Consumer VCRs are assembled here and only two u.s.
manufacturers of color TVs remain . ....
"That's all," she wrote.
