---FROM THE PRESIDENT--
PICNIC - Don't forget the picnic and its new location in Vista. We will
have the following activities: 1) Direction finding demonstrations, 2)
Packet radio, 3) Garnes for the kids, 4) Good food, 5) Measuring the SWR of
mobile antennas, 6) Measuring the power output of transmitters, 7) CW, and
8) Drawing for the picnic prizes after lunch. Bring the family, food, and
your HT. There will also be a table for the sale of equipment (limit, 3
items). Be sure to tag your items with your name, call, and price. (See
also the picnic item on page 2.)
REPEATER SITE - It looks as if we could purchase the 5% $16,800 note
against our repeater site for about $9,000. The Executive Committee is
..~ looking into the problem and .../ill make a recommendation soon.
INTERFERENCE - KOJPK/R was not allowed a TASMA 90-day test last month
since their coverage area as stated by their application was east/west,
although I know that to many of you it appears north/south. Our letter to
the FCC concerning this interference is being held up for a few weeks until
we tie up some loose ends. Possibly, more information will be made available
at our August meeting. Please continue to check to see if you can
"key up" KOJPK/R. The KOJPK/R carrier should be audible after the W6NWG/R
carrier drops.
