The Chief Executive of <strong>Stadiums</strong> <strong>Queensland</strong>, General<br />

Manager Corporate Services and the Financial Controller<br />

attend meetings as observers. This ensures appropriate<br />

separation between the Committee as the body responsible<br />

for oversight and monitoring corporate governance within<br />

<strong>Stadiums</strong> <strong>Queensland</strong> and the managers responsible for the<br />

administration of the business.<br />

The Committee focuses on strategic risk issues facing <strong>Stadiums</strong><br />

<strong>Queensland</strong> and provides advice on the control mechanisms<br />

(implemented by management) to protect the organisation’s<br />

assets and promote efficient and effective work practices.<br />

Officers of the <strong>Queensland</strong> Audit Office (QAO) attend meetings<br />

of the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee.<br />

The Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee has due regard<br />

for the terms of its charter and <strong>Queensland</strong> Treasury’s Audit<br />

Committee Guidelines in the conduct of its business.<br />

Government Asset Management Arena<br />

Established as a whole-of-government body, the Government<br />

Asset Management Arena is a forum for discussion on best<br />

practice government asset management. Asset managers from<br />

all government agencies and units attend the Arena. <strong>Stadiums</strong><br />

<strong>Queensland</strong>’s General Manager Asset Management and<br />

Development is a member of this group.<br />

Events Coordination Forum<br />

Q150<br />

<strong>Queensland</strong>’s 150th Celebrations in 2009 commemorate<br />

<strong>Queensland</strong>’s independence from New South Wales as a colony.<br />

The vision for the celebrations ‘reflect on our past, imagine<br />

our future’ will drive the program around the four broad<br />

themes of history, people, places and future. The celebratory<br />

program incorporates both existing events and new initiatives<br />

to generate interest and engage <strong>Queensland</strong>ers across the<br />

State. <strong>Stadiums</strong> <strong>Queensland</strong>’s General Manager Business<br />

Development and Marketing is a member of this committee.<br />

Suncorp Stadium Management Advisory Committee<br />

A Stadium Management Advisory Committee (SMAC) has<br />

been established to fulfil a condition of the Suncorp Stadium<br />

Development Approval. Suncorp Stadium’s Chief Executive<br />

Officer convenes SMAC on behalf of <strong>Stadiums</strong> <strong>Queensland</strong>.<br />

This Committee comprises representatives from emergency<br />

service agencies, transport providers, Brisbane City Council<br />

and community organisations. These meetings enable<br />

Stadium Management to receive a range of views regarding<br />

the operation of the stadium. Three SMAC meetings were held<br />

during the financial year.<br />

Risk Management<br />

The identification and proper management of risk is embedded<br />

in <strong>Stadiums</strong> <strong>Queensland</strong>’s business processes and operating<br />

procedures. In addition, <strong>Stadiums</strong> <strong>Queensland</strong> has several<br />

Committees that address risk management issues:<br />

• <strong>Stadiums</strong> <strong>Queensland</strong>’s Executive Committee provides a<br />

coordinated approach to the management of risks at the<br />

operational level; and<br />

• The Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee focuses on<br />

key strategic risk issues facing <strong>Stadiums</strong> <strong>Queensland</strong> and<br />

ensures mechanisms are in place to effectively protect<br />

assets and the safe operation of the business.<br />

The Events Coordination Forum is convened by the Department<br />

of Premier and Cabinet as a means to communicate and<br />

coordinate the whole-of-government approach to attracting a<br />

large variety of events to <strong>Queensland</strong>. <strong>Stadiums</strong> <strong>Queensland</strong>’s<br />

General Manager Business Development and Marketing is a<br />

member of this forum.<br />
