Our priorities
• Create jobs through major construction projects (such as
the redevelopment of Carrara Stadium) which contribute
to the State’s sporting infrastructure, and through the
conduct of events at its stadia;
• Support the Queensland Tourism industry by attracting
international, interstate and intrastate patrons to major
national and international sporting and entertainment
events;
• Attract new events and other business opportunities which
bring economic benefits to the state;
• Continue to introduce environmentally sustainable
technology and practices and promote the use of recycle
bins to recycle waste materials at venues;
• Reduce the traffic impact on communities adjacent to major
venues through innovative public transport initiatives;
• Continue to develop innovative partnerships with
educational institutions and relevant sports industry
bodies to foster better training and development
opportunities for elite athletes and research opportunities
for the future of the sports industry;
• Continue to provide the community, schools and other
educational institutions with access to a range of quality
sports, entertainment and leisure facilities, to foster
participation in sport and the performing arts; and
• Maintain the State’s major sporting and entertainment
facilities to a world class standard and provide safe venues
for patrons attending events.
