Highlights<br />
• An official naming ceremony was held on Thursday 23<br />
October 2008 to announce the <strong>Queensland</strong> Tennis Centre<br />
stadium as “Pat Rafter Arena”;<br />
• The Centre was officially opened by the Premier of<br />
<strong>Queensland</strong>, the Hon. Anna Bligh MP on Friday<br />
2 January 2009;<br />
• The Inaugural Brisbane International attracted 66,024<br />
spectators and a total domestic television audience of 3.45<br />
million viewers; and<br />
• Around 16,000 members of the public used the facility for<br />
fixtures, coaching, social court hire and functions since the<br />
opening in January 2009.<br />

• Work with Tennis Australia to secure the Centre’s first Davis<br />

• Continue to promote court hire to increase use of all<br />
outdoor courts and the centre court for casual and<br />
corporate use on non-tournament days; and<br />
• Promote the various <strong>Queensland</strong> Tennis Centre function<br />
spaces to increase use on non-event days.<br />
In the first half of 2009 a total of 85,774 patrons visited the<br />
<strong>Queensland</strong> Tennis Centre.<br />
