Picnic Displays
engines judged that sauntered up to me
from time to time. Somewhat hesitantly,
each asked me, in a very friendly yet very
concerned tone words to the effect of,
“Your wife, Karen, isn’t going to judge
the engine with those slender fingers
of hers, is she?” I assured them that
Karen was judging the undercarriage, so
Engine Girl would be nowhere near their
carburetors or alternators! Aloha.

Let’s start off with my least favorite
thing was having to be there at 5:30
am to help with registration, but once
we arrived you forgot about how early
it was. Everyone just pitched in and
started working and had a lot of fun
doing it. Great Cars. Great music. Great
picnic displays.
From Ken Fredrickson...
I arrived at the concours early and
as usual was excited to see everyone and
their cars. The cleaning supplies were
strewn out with chairs, picnic blankets
along with any loose items from the
cars. The routine of cleaning cars and
talking Porsche is a common experience
for me. Then around 9 am everything
came to an abrupt halt. Garey Cooper,
the Master of Ceremonies, announced
over the PA system the arrival of the
United States Marine color guard from
Camp Pendelton as they marched onto
the field to present the Colors. Garey
gave a very historical background of
the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines known
as The Magnificent Bastards. The field
went silent as everyone stopped what
they were doing, stood at attention
