RSR programs might stay fairly strong
as carriers of the corporate escutcheon,
if anything because they don’t threaten
any program from the rest of the VW
holdings, and this may be the best news
as arguably these cars advance the street
cars we all can drive very directly. On the
other hand, what becomes of the R8 and
R10, the “911 fighters” from Audi? Oh
and how does the Panamera fit in against
the A6 and A8?

Speaking of the Panamera
It is here! A Porsche with four doors. No
that’s not a first, of course the Cayenne
gets that distinction in history. But
Porsche now has a sedan and the early
driver reviews I’ve read are generally

hand revives the controversies that I
remember with the Cayenne launch, those
that hate it and those that love it with no
one in between. I have not seen one in
person so I’ll withhold judgment, but I
will say that I’m hoping it looks better in
the flesh.
Epidermis
I always thought that Epidermis was the
name of a Roman Emperor. Or was he
the guy that pulled the thorn out of the
lion’s claw? But no, that is the correct
Latin name for your skin. As the poem
say, “be kind to your skin, it’s the only
thing that holds you in.” After many years
being outdoors, my own pelt is getting a
bit used up. Enter the mostly painless
Doctor Peter Helton, the friend to my
skin. Can you imagine what I’d look like
if Dr. Helton didn’t blast me with liquid
nitrogen from time to time? And to top
it all off, the good Doctor drives a GT3.
That’s the kind of contact you can make
in the Porsche Club, although I can’t
guarantee you’ll end up as good looking
as me. But it’s worth a try.
Stimulus
Mrs. Cooper is no stranger to deficit
spending. When I borrow her car―the
black BMW 750i I call the NSDAP staff
car―I struggle to keep it to the left when I
drive past South Coast Plaza or any other
one of a dozen high-end shopping centers.
Now you too can stimulate the economy

Speaking of Mr. Gastelo, I drove with him
to Italy last month; yes really. Armand
has an insiders touch with Pelican Resort
and we got the royal Italian treatment,
including a bit of bubbly on the terrace
overlooking the sparkling blue Pacific.
The whole day and tour which began
at our newer sponsor (?) was molto
Bello. It made us feel lucky, and happy
to be part of the Orange Coast Region.
