Incorporated TECH N ICAL REPORT SOUARE RESERVE DEPLOYMENT SYSTEM ANALYSIS INTRODUCTION In response to "rumor control" reports that square reserves were malfunctioning by breaking both locking stows arrd snatching the deployrnent bag out of the corrtainer while leaving the canopy in the container. and because having observed hundreds of deployment tests over the years on square reserves and never having encountered this phenomena, we decided to conduct a thorough and comprehensive investigation. While high speed testing various square reserve models that we are now manufacturing and have manufirctured in the past, at 2OO miles per hour and above, we have observed'O' rings breaking; however, we have always felt - based on our observations of these breakages - that this resulted in faster deployments rather than slower or no deployments. The investigation was conducted in two phases: one which was a series of f ilm documented rvindtunnel tests that we have contracted Butler <strong>Parachute</strong> Inc. - Manley C.
