If you have not run Netscape previously, a lot of informational messages and<br />

windows will be shown while Netscape is setting up the environment in your<br />

home directory. This is standard behavior for the first execution of Netscape. The<br />

messages will not be shown again the next time you start Netscape.<br />

The top part of the Documentation Search Service page allows you to specify<br />

your search criteria and the bottom part shows what on-line manuals have been<br />

installed. The following shows the documentation search service page with only<br />

the command reference manuals and the programming guide manuals installed<br />

(Figure 51):<br />

If you have a problem starting the Documentation Search Service, check the<br />

following environment variables. These environment variables may be set,<br />

displayed, and changed using SMIT. Start SMIT, select System Environments,<br />

then select Internet and Documentation Services.<br />

• On the client machine<br />

1. Invoke the Web browser manually and enter the URL<br />

http://[:]/cgi-bin/ds_form to ensure that the<br />

server is up and running.<br />

2. Ensure the DEFAULT_BROWSER variable is set to the command for<br />

starting your Web browser.<br />
