departmental, transaction, or database server.<br />

Figure 3 shows the Model 260 with additional equipment.<br />

The following is a summary of the Model 260:<br />

• 1- or 2-way SMP system using the 64-bit 200 MHz POWER3 processor.<br />

• 4 MB of Level 2 (L2) cache per processor.<br />

• The system memory can be expanded up to 4 GB.<br />

• A 10/100 Mbps Ethernet, Ultra SCSI, and a service processor are integrated<br />

within the Model 260.<br />

• Contains five PCI slots. Two of the slots are 64-bit at 50 MHz, and three are<br />

32-bit at 33 MHz.<br />

• Contains five bays. There are two disk and three media bays. One disk bay is<br />

available. A 1.44 MB 3.5-inch diskette drive and a 32X CD-ROM occupy two of<br />

the media bays.<br />

• A variety of 2D and 3D graphics adapters, including a new advanced 3D<br />

graphics adapter (GXT3000), are available for the Model 260.<br />

• An auto-restart (reboot) option, when enabled, automatically reboots the<br />

system following an unrecoverable software error, hardware failure, or<br />

environmental-induced (power) failure.<br />

The <strong>AIX</strong> <strong>Version</strong> 4.2.1 or <strong>4.3</strong>.2 operating system is included with each Model 260<br />

and can be preinstalled, if desired.<br />
