Previously, the man command had to search the InfoExplorer database to locate<br />

the information that it required. Now under <strong>AIX</strong> <strong>Version</strong> <strong>4.3</strong>, the information is<br />

stored in HTML files. The HTML files are stored in the directory structure by<br />

COLLECTION_ID and BOOK_ID. The man command uses this structure to locate the<br />

required information. This new structure provides the user with performance<br />

benefits, because the search criteria is more narrowly defined.<br />

In terms of overall function, the man command remains unchanged, performing the<br />

way it always has.<br />

9.6 SMIT Documentation<br />

With the introduction of HTML-based product libraries, the SMIT documentation<br />

and all of the SMIT helps have been converted to HTML. SMIT is updated to<br />

access the HTML versions of the help files. The naming convention of the filesets<br />

has also been changed to reflect the introduction of Web-Based Systems<br />

Management.<br />
