3. Air Miles - The straight line distance in miles from the central office to the serving terminal. This field<br />

may not be edited. It is merely a place holder for information that is input in a field with the same name<br />

on the Loop Make-up Form.<br />

4. Navigation Buttons -<br />

a. Click this button to move to the 6rst sample (circuit) record in the table (e. g., GAl)& press<br />

CtrVHome on the keyboard.<br />

b. Click this button to move to the previous sample (circuit) in the table or press Swab on the<br />

keyboard.<br />

c. Click this button to move to the next sample (circuit) in the table or press Ctrl/Tab on the keyboard.<br />

d. Click this button to move to the last sample (circuit) in the table or press Ctrmnd on the keyboard.<br />

e. Record Number Box - Displays the current sample number. To move to a speci.6~ sample., highlight<br />

the sample number in the record number box or press F5 on the keyboard, type the sample number<br />

you wish to move to, and press the ENTER key.<br />

5. Segment Number - A segment is defined as that amount of cable and/or equipment between any two<br />

required locations such as MDF, load coil case, BOC case, apparatus case, x-box, multiplexer, DLC,<br />

serving terminal or building terminal (see 1995 Loop Survey Instructions and examples for further<br />

discussion). This field may not be edited. It is initially set at one (1) and new segments are created, as<br />

necessary, by using the New Segment button (see below).<br />

6. Item Number - Different types of OSP material within a particular segment will be assigned a d'flerent<br />

item number. This field may not.be edited. It is initially set at one (1) and new items are created, as<br />

necessary, by using the New Item or New Segment buttons (see below).<br />

7. FRC (Field Reporting Code) - Use the mouse to click on the arrow to the right of the ERC field to<br />

access the drop down box. Scroll to the appropriate FRC, point and click to select the F&C. Population<br />

of this field is required for all Item Numbers.<br />

8. Item Type - Use the mouse to access the drop down box and select the appropriate Item Type. The<br />

drop down box will include only valid items applicable to the FRC previously chosen. Population of this<br />

field is required for all Item Numbers.<br />

9. Item Class - Use the mouse to point and click the proper Item Class. Population of this field is required<br />

for all Item Numbers. The Feeder/Thtribution Item Class indicates the division point between feeder<br />

and distribution facilities and should only be used for the interface in the loop malce-up as designated<br />

by an Item Type of AERIAL. X-BOX (22C), BURIED X-BOX (45C), BUILDING ENTRANCE X-<br />

BOX (12C) or INTRABUILDINGX-BOX(52C).<br />

10. Size - Use the mouse to access the drop down box and select the correct size of any Item Type for<br />

which size is a requirement. Size is required for Item Types of any CABLE, X-BOX, LCC, BOC,<br />

APPARATUS CASE or END SECTION OR BRIDGED TAP and is acceptable, but not required, for<br />

Item Types of BUILDING ENTRANCE SERVING TERMINAL or INTRABUILDING SERVING<br />

TERMINAL.<br />
