2.18 Crossply sheath for filled cable (Fig. 7) contains<br />

a moisture-resistant gel or filling compound<br />

The sheath consists of<br />

A PE tube (inner jacket) as part of the core to<br />

act as a protective chamber. The tube has an<br />

outside diameter of 0.310 inch and an inside<br />

diameter of 0.250 inch.<br />

Fourteen steel wires (0.017-inch outside diameter)<br />

applied with a right-hand lay over the<br />

polyester tape. Another laver of 14 steel wires.<br />

except with a left-hand lay.<br />

LIGHTPACK cable sheath with 004-048 fibers<br />

has a 0 42-inch diameter, and with 50-96<br />

fibers has a 0 49 inch diameter<br />
