Requirements for bonding and grounding of the metallic components of the cable are covered in
Section 627-020-005SV.
DESCRIPTION
The AT&T LXE fiber cable consists of a core with either the AT&T AccuRibbon or Lichtpack
fiber arrangement. The core is surrounded by a High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) core tube,
a corrugated steel shield and a HDPE outer jacket. The strength members consists of two steel
wires on opposite sides of the core, within the jacket. Three ripcords are provided to facilitate
entry. Two ripcords. one next to each steel strength member, provide for splitting the outer sheath
and the third ripcord is provided to split the corrugated metallic shield. (See Figures 1 and 2.)
The cable is designed to allow ease of mid-span entry for loop distribution. The fibers may be
accessed mid-span while the strength wires are left intact to maintain strength.
In areas of high lightning susceptibility and/or rodent damage, a RodentlLightning option is available
at extra cost. The WL option replaces the standard steel shield wiih a copper/stainless steel
shield for more protection.
