Fiber Idenllfication for LIGHTPACK Cable
2.08 Color-coded 'binders' are designed to provide
easy unit identification. The standard fiber
counts for LIGHTPACK are 4, 6, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 36,
48, 60, 72, 84, and 96 (Table B).
C. Ribbon Core besign
tapes (Fig. 3). A cable may contain up to 12 ribbons
which are stacked together (Fig. 4). There is a maximum
of 144 fibers per cable (of which 136 are
guaranteed-conforming fibers). The ribbon stack is
twisted to distribute the strain induced on the fibers by
cable bends during handling. The allowable minimum
bend radius for each ribbon is 1.5 inches.
2.09 A fiber ribbon consists of a linear array of 12
fibers sandwiched between two adhesive-backed
