He was consecrated as the captain of the<br />

Brazilian Soccer Team in the 1958 World Cup in Sweden,<br />

the first win of Brazil.<br />

His picture raising Jules Rimet cup with both<br />

hands over his head is one of the hallmarks of Brazilian<br />

soccer, and started being repeated by every single<br />

captain. He was also part of the second time world<br />

championship in Chile in 1962.<br />

He started his career at Itapirense and then at Sanjoanense, in the countryside of São<br />

Paulo, being recognized at Vasco da Gama and after at São Paulo F.C. He closed his career at<br />

Atlético Paranaense in 1969. The consecrated gesture of raising the cup was immortalized in a<br />

statue at the entrance of Maracanã Stadium, so-called “Bellini’s statue”.<br />

captain. When he was is in the capital,<br />

Bellini liked visiting the Soccer Museum,<br />

at Pacaembu Stadium.<br />
