gives FLORENCE the giggles. She turns away and we follow her<br />
into the bedroom.<br />
8 INT. HOTEL SUITE. BEDROOM. DAY<br />

She stands by the bed, trying to recover. From next door, EDWARD<br />
doing his best to sound authoritative.<br />
EDWARD (V.O.)<br />
You could push the window shut. Not<br />
all the way, no, more, that’s it.<br />
Thank you. Now try... Yes, yes... we<br />
both want the melon... and the thingy,<br />
the glazed cherry...<br />
9 INT. HOTEL SUITE, SITTING ROOM. DAY.<br />

Minutes later. EDWARD and FLORENCE are at table, the two WAITERS<br />
serve from the trolley. The floorboards squeak loudly against<br />
the silence.<br />
EDWARD watches the WAITERS closely for any sign of mockery.<br />
Plates of melon are set down. The wine is poured for EDWARD to<br />
taste. He takes his time, samples it and frowns importantly,<br />
holds his glass to the light, takes a second sip.<br />
He pours.<br />
EDWARD<br />
Very good actually.<br />
WAITER TWO<br />
Thank you sir.<br />
CUT TO A minute later. The WAITERS stand back, napkins over<br />
their forearms, staring straight ahead, expressions<br />
impenetrable. The COUPLE are acutely conscious of them and avoid<br />
each other’s eye.<br />
EDWARD<br />
Are you er, are you going to stand<br />
there the whole time?
