CBA SYMPHONY & CHORUS OFFICIAL PROGRAM angie Johnson, artistic Director Young naperville Singers Angie Johnson received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in music education with honors from Nor thern Illinois University in 1991 where she studied piano with Donald Walker. Upon graduating, she taught choral/general music for Circle Center Middle School (Yorkville, IL) and Gregory Middle School (Naperville, IL). Conducting choral programs of up to 350 singers, she was named a “Most Influential Educator.” Mrs. Johnson is an active clinician, adjudicator, accompanist and festival conductor. She has conducted for several junior high festivals and loves to work with choirs in their school setting. Passionate about sharing her love for teaching, she has led panel discussions, workshops and teacher institutes for both future and current teachers. In her 12th season as a director and 4th season as the Artistic Director, she is honored to serve with a talented artistic team of directors and accompanists. 18 | CBA SYMPHONY & CHORUS Jeordano martínez, music Director <strong>The</strong> naperville Chorus Launching his twentieth season as the highly acclaimed director of the Naperville Chorus, Jeordano Martínez brings an extraordinary talent, boundless energy, and a true love of the major choral and orchestral repertoire to the audiences of Naperville and DuPage County. His reputation for excellence in choral music has been noted in concerts throughout the United States and Europe, where he has conducted concerts in Poland, Austria, Spain, Portugal, and the Czech Republic. Under his leadership the Chorus has more than doubled in membership and has made guest appearances with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, DuPage Symphony, Downers Grove Oratorio Society, East Meets West Orchestra, and the Naperville Municipal Band. A graduate of Baylor University and Southern Illinois University, Martínez studied orchestral conducting with Irwin Hoffmann and James Dixon, choral conducting with Donald Moses and Margaret Hillis, and operatic direction with the late Metropolitan Opera star Marjorie Lawrence. He is a full professor at North Central College where he has been honored twice with the Dissinger Award for outstanding teaching, in 1992 and 2002. He is a former musical director of the Hinsdale Opera Chorus, Elgin Youth Orchestra, Elgin Summer Music <strong>The</strong>ater, Miss Illinois State Pageant, and the Liberty-Fremont Concert Society. He has also served as conductor and adjudicator throughout the Midwest and also in Canada and Costa Rica. Presently he also serves as director of the North Central College Concert Choir and Opera Workshop and directs the Chancel Choir at the First United Methodist Church of Glen Ellyn. Janet Eckhardt, rehearsal accompanist <strong>The</strong> <strong>Chicago</strong> <strong>Bar</strong> association Chorus Pianist Janet Eckhardt is well known among <strong>Chicago</strong> singers. A faculty member at North Park University and staff accompanist at the Moody Bible Institute, Janet also serves as accompanist for churches and synagogues in the <strong>Chicago</strong> area. Ms. Eckhardt received her Master of Music degree from the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford. <strong>Bar</strong>bara Vanderwall, rehearsal accompanist <strong>The</strong> naperville Chorus <strong>Bar</strong>bara Vanderwall is an Instructor of Piano at North Central College and also serves as the Piano Studies Coordinator for the Music Department. She has been the accompanist for the North Central College Women’s Chorale directed by Dr. Ramona Wis since its inception. Mrs. Vanderwall frequently appears as a vocal and instrumental accompanist in the <strong>Chicago</strong> area and has experience as a chamber musician.
