2. International Relations
The Foundation has long been concerned with
international relations. The work of all divisions
is international in scope and, in certain instances,
directly promotes cooperative relationships between
nations. The fellowship programs of the
Foundation are effective in breaking down national
isolation; they make possible travel and
study in almost all parts of the world, and
broaden the fellow's horizon and experience by
giving him opportunity to study outside his own
country.
Within the division of the social sciences, the
Foundation has had during recent years a pro-
