ONLINE Learning<br />

<strong>Carl</strong> <strong>Sandburg</strong> <strong>College</strong> offers more than 100 online learning courses each semester.<br />

Students enrolled in online classes should visit the <strong>College</strong>’s website to confirm that<br />

their computer meets the minimum technology requirements. Students should also<br />

know basic computer skills such as sending emails and attachments, formatting<br />

Microsoft Word documents and sending PDF and RTF files before taking an online<br />

Parking Regulations<br />

The Main Campus has five large parking lots. Parking is provided free. No parking is<br />

allowed on the sides of the entry roads, in fire lanes or on lawn areas. Tickets will also<br />

be issued for taking up two parking spaces and for parking over the lines. Tickets will be<br />

issued for violation of these parking rules. In addition, each parking lot has parking spaces<br />

designated for handicapped parking. Unauthorized use of these parking places will result<br />

in a $50 fine in accordance with paragraph 11-1301.3 of the Illinois Vehicle Code.<br />

Personal Counseling<br />

The counseling staff at the <strong>College</strong> provides short-term counseling services for students<br />

facing personal or family problems. The special skills and training of the counseling staff<br />

enable them to work with students on an individual basis or in a group setting. Students<br />

seeking personal help should schedule an appointment with one of the counselors in the<br />

Office of Student Services.<br />

Phi Theta Kappa<br />

The Chi Kappa chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year<br />

colleges, is committed to recognizing outstanding scholarship and to assisting its members<br />

in obtaining academic scholarships and job opportunities while fostering leadership and<br />

personal achievement. The organization offers several national scholarships as well as<br />

opportunities to be nominated for additional honors, such as membership on the society’s<br />

Academic All-American Team. To become a member, students must be currently enrolled<br />

and must have a grade-point average of at least 3.5 after a minimum of 12 hours of course<br />

work leading to an associate degree. Contact 309.341.5307.<br />

staff, students and visitors through the Public Safety Department with security guards<br />

and physical plant personnel who are on site on the Main Campus 24 hours per day, 365<br />

days per year. Any person who witnesses a crime or becomes a victim of a crime should<br />

report it as soon as possible to Campus Security. When multiple incidents occur during<br />

the same time frame, reports and subsequent action by Campus Security Guards are<br />

handled in order of priority: 1) personal safety; 2) property crime; 3) services. A phone<br />

and safety booklet are in each classroom for emergency situations. For other services<br />

Refund Schedule<br />

Tuition refunds will be issued to eligible students based upon effective date of<br />

withdrawals. The date that a written request for withdrawal is received by the<br />

Admissions and Records Office determines the effective date of withdrawal. Full<br />

refund of tuition and fees will be made if the <strong>College</strong> cancels a course. Refunds will be<br />

determined on the basis of the following schedule:<br />
