This modern industrial site in Hüttenfeld
for category 3 materials has set
a new milestone in processing food
waste.
A modern new facility has been built
on the premises of Alois Fischer &
Söhne GmbH & Co. KG to process
food waste. Taking into account
recent hygiene regulations, the hall
features the very latest technology
and covers 7,000 sq m. A new
administrative building and a biodiesel
filling station were also constructed.
Building a food waste processing
plant at this location was particularly
attractive because a number of
key prerequisites were already in
place: a wastewater treatment plant,
a biofilter facility for purifying
exhaust air, an appropriate water and
mains electricity supply. The site also
benefits from excellent road links.
These advantages, coupled with the
foresight of the municipal authorities
in allowing a further 50 jobs to be
created here, meant the project was
realised by December 2006 after just
seven months of construction.
Eva Oberschelp manages the company
locally, while Hans-Heinrich
Lüdde is the managing director of
this location. The company is
involved in the collection and intermediate
processing of food waste,
frying fats, out-of-date foodstuffs
and meat waste from restaurants,
canteen kitchens, food markets and
butcher’s shops. This happens by col-
lecting and replacing large waste
containers (with a capacity of 120
and 240 litres) or OLEO fat containers
(a proprietary development).
The hall is designed to optimise the
loading and unloading procedure:
There is a functional work platform
with four docking points for collection
vehicles and six emptying stations
for separating different products.
All areas of the hall are generously
sized so that vehicles can be cleared
under cover. This prevents emissions.
The exhaust air that is generated
inside the hall is extracted by the
exhaust unit and fed over to the biofilter
at SÜPRO GmbH by a special
