counselling & disability services<br />
CDS provides a range <strong>of</strong> essential counselling and disability-related services to the<br />
<strong>York</strong> <strong>University</strong> community. The primary aim <strong>of</strong> CDS is to help students realize,<br />
develop, and fulfill their personal and academic potential in order to maximally<br />
benefit from their university experience.<br />

Personal Counselling Services – short term counselling for individuals and couples, groups and workshops,<br />
crisis intervention, critical event support, consultation and outreach<br />
Learning Skills Services — workshops and individual assistance with general study strategies and learning<br />
skills such as reading, note-taking, time management, exam preparation and critical thinking.<br />
Disability Support Services for students with documented learning, mental health, physical, sensory and<br />
medical disabilities. Based on a face-to-face interview and review <strong>of</strong> relevant psychological or medical<br />
documentation, appropriate academic accommodations and support can be arranged.<br />
