The vanes are kept in contact with the casing by one of the<br />

following methods:<br />

• Centrifugal force throwing the vanes outwards.<br />

• Springs on the underside of the vanes.<br />

• Oil at system pressure being fed to the underside of the<br />

vanes.<br />

• Curved push rods. (Vickers Pumps). As one vane is pushed<br />

in by the shape of the casing, another is pushed out by the<br />

curved rod.<br />
