A second form of this pump is the 'bent axis' piston pump as
shown in Figure 45. This type is often used as a pump/motor unit.

In this form the angle of the swash plate is fixed by the shape of
the casing. The drive shaft rotates the swash plate which, in turn,
rotates the pistons and the cylinder block. The swash plate and
cylinder block are mounted in needle roller bearings so that they
rotate easily.
