Fishing is a favorite pastime in the
area because of the many wonderful
lakes for people to enjoy. Lake
Dauphin has produced 11 different
master anglers species – 3 other species
can be caught 10 minutes away
at the Vermillion Reservoir and 21 of
the 30 eligible master angler species
can be caught within a 50 minute
drive of Dauphin.

Dauphin Lake
Dauphin Lake is a trophy walleye
fishery with fish weighing 1.4 to 1.8
kg (3-4 lbs) or more! Try your luck
catching northern pike and Master
Angler walleye. The record catch of
a 71.45 cm (32”) walleye was caught
at Lake Dauphin on February 16th,
2002. A number of boat launches are
available and Rainbow Beach Provincial
Recreation Park offers camping
and swimming. Lake Dauphin is a
shallow lake, so take care when boating.

Valley & Wilson Rivers
Fish off shore where the mouth of
the Valley and Wilson Rivers meet
Lake Dauphin. You can also fish
along the streams for northern pike
and walleye.
Vermillion Reservoir
Located on the northern boundary
of RMNP close to Dauphin, the
Vermillion Reservoir is stocked with
smallmouth bass, brown trout, and
rainbow trout. A great place for flyfishing
and catching Master Angler
brown trout. The record catch at
Vermillion Reservoir was a 58.42 cm
(23”) smallmouth bass, caught on
August 10, 2003. Only electric motors

Duck Mountain Provincial Park
A number of great fishing lakes and
rivers can be found in this park, all
within a 1-hour drive. Try East Blue
Lake, stocked with trophy rainbow

Blue Lake for walleye, lake trout,
brown trout and perch. Fish Child’s
Lake for lake trout, northern pike,
splake, walleye and perch. Elk Lake
is a small lake with northern pike,
perch and walleye. Try Gull Lake for
stocked brook trout, rainbow trout,
splake, lake whitefish and sparr and
Laurie Lake for lake trout, brown
trout, splake, northern pike and
perch. Fish for stocked bass and trout
in Perch Lake (catch and release,
electric motors only). Shilliday
Lake is stocked with rainbow and
brown trout (electric motors only).
Walleye, northern pike, perch and
smallmouth bass can be caught in
Singuish Lake.
Riding Mountain
National Park (RMNP)
The lakes of RMNP are open to fishing
but are subject to separate rules
and regulations. A Manitoba Angling
License is not valid in RMNP. Moon
Lake is a quiet lake with northern
pike and perch, south of Dauphin
