5.2 - OIP: Other Interested Party Detail Record<br />

This record is used to convey in<strong>format</strong>ion about interested parties to a musical work that was<br />

exploited in this distribution, but where IP-NAME-NUMBERS and roles are not known or not<br />

applicable, and where the OIP in<strong>format</strong>ion may assist the recipient in the identification of the<br />

work.<br />

Note: Unlike all other MWN detail records which are specific to their Work Distribution<br />

Statuses (MDS), the OIP occurs at the work level and its data applies to all MDS.<br />

OIP Record Level Validation<br />

1. It is not valid to submit a work with only Other Interested Party OIP record(s) to identify<br />

interested parties. If an Interested Party In<strong>format</strong>ion IPI record cannot be provided, the<br />

work and its earnings must not be included in the file but should more properly be listed<br />

in the submitter’s Unidentified Performances (UP) file.<br />

OIP Field Level Validation<br />

1. Record type. Use “OIP”.<br />

2. Other IP name. Must contain the name of the interested party. Format should be either<br />

a company name or - for a person – their surname.<br />

3. Other IP first name. Must contain the first name of the interested party (Natural persons<br />

only).<br />

4. Other IP description. Must be present and contain in<strong>format</strong>ion supporting the inclusion<br />

of the OIP data; for example “Conductor”, “Solo Pianist”, “Record Label”.<br />
