EMERGENCY <strong>Response</strong>: Shelter-in-Place<br />

Procedures for Accounting for Students,<br />

Staff and Visitors During Shelter-in-Place<br />

During an emergency, accounting for students, staff and visitors is an urgent<br />

priority. Follow these procedures for accounting for everyone.<br />

o<br />

Teachers/staff move students to safe locations within building<br />

(e.g., away from outside walls and windows).<br />

o Teachers keep their student roster with them<br />

o Designated school staff clear hallways and bathrooms and direct<br />

students to secure locations<br />

Teachers/staff remain with students, take attendance and report<br />

missing students to the Site Administrator (Site Incident Commander)<br />

or Operations Team by any means possible<br />

In case <strong>of</strong> missing student, Site Administrator attempts to locate and<br />

report any missing students to the Fire Department, Police Department<br />

and District <strong>Office</strong><br />

o Site Administrator accounts for all staff and any visitors listed on the<br />

school visitor log or sign-in sheet<br />
