Child Abuse and Sexual Assault—<strong>Response</strong><br />
Sexual Assault by a District Employee:<br />

Notify the Police<br />
Notify the District <strong>Office</strong><br />
Complete a School Site/Incident Report<br />
Send report to appropriate district personnel<br />
Decide in partnership with the Superintendent or<br />
designee who will notify parent or guardian<br />
Important Details<br />
Communication among<br />
departments:<br />
It is essential that all relevant<br />
departments be involved<br />
in reports <strong>of</strong> child abuse or<br />
sexual assault. Communication<br />
between Principals,<br />
Superintendent, Human<br />
Resources, Legal Services, and<br />
other departments may be<br />
called for. Child Abuse and<br />
Sexual assault should always<br />
be reported to the Police.<br />
If a Caseworker Has Not Responded by<br />
Dismissal Time:<br />

Site Administrator may send the student home if the student does not<br />
appear to be in imminent danger<br />
If the caseworker is on the way, remain with the student until the<br />
caseworker arrives<br />
If the student is afraid to go home, refuses to go home, or is<br />
determined to be in imminent danger, call the Police and remain with<br />
the student until the police arrive<br />
If the child is taken into custody by the Police, the Site Administrator<br />
should notify the parent or guardian by telephone<br />
If parents or guardians are not reachable, complete the<br />
Notification Card, make copies, seal it in an envelope, address<br />
it to parent or guardian, and deliver to their residence.<br />
Collaborate with Police:<br />
Provide information to<br />
the Police as required for<br />
investigative purposes. Copies<br />
<strong>of</strong> a child abuse report should<br />
only be provided to police<br />
upon request.<br />
When in doubt, report!<br />
