Student Observes Weapon<br />

Send sealed message with trusted student to the Site Administrator<br />
Seek assistance from another teacher to report the incident<br />
Report your name and location<br />
Give the name and a description <strong>of</strong> the suspect<br />
Describe the type <strong>of</strong> weapon and location if possible<br />
Discreetly call the police if possible<br />
Wait for a response from administration<br />
Use extreme caution; do not confront the suspect<br />
When a Weapon is Brandished<br />

Assess the situation<br />
Call 911 if possible<br />
Notify the District <strong>Office</strong><br />
The Site Administrator should decide to:<br />
s Clear the site or evacuate<br />
s Secure the area or initiate a lockdown<br />
Remain calm; avoid sudden moves or gestures<br />
Do NOT attempt to take the weapon from the individual<br />
Using a calm and clear voice, instruct the individual that they need to place<br />
the weapon down<br />
Use the individual’s name while talking to them<br />
