Diocesan Services Appeal 2010 Through Bishop Gerald Barbarito’s Annual Appeal we share in the work of Christ through our pledge of financial support to the Diocesan Services Appeal 2010. As one of the largest, most active communities St. Thomas More Parish’s portion is also great: $383,500.00 Pledges and Cash received as of July 23: $232,893.31 This amount is beyond the capacity of any one person; but every single person and every parish must do something. That includes me and you and all who worship at St. Thomas More. We Gather in Faith, We share God’s Blessings. Harris, Pastor Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Sacrificial Giving at St. Thomas More Parish WEEKEND OF AUGUST 28-29, 2010 Tithes and Offerings: $21,973.47 Respect Life & Migrants Diocesan Collection The annual collection in support of Respect Life and Migrants is scheduled for the weekend of September 12 and 13. Our very active Respect Life Ministry within the five county Diocese of Palm Beach serves to educate and encourage among our faithful and beyond an authentic love and reverence for all humankind from the moment of conception to natural death. This ministry serves the community by means of outreach to women in crisis pregnancy, with an active healing ministry for women and men suffering the profound effects of an abortion, awareness and witness to foster dignity for our sick and aged, and with ongoing education on the topic of various bioethics in conjunction with the Florida Catholic Conference. Your support toward this collection enables the critical work of the Church locally in establishing a culture of life in families, parishes, schools and in the public square. The second portion of this collection is dedicated to support Migrant communities in our Diocese where there too exists a need for critical outreach in our vast territory. Hard working families who are struggling to survive in these challenging economic times will be supported by your financial support which will directly provide relief for the poor and needy migrant parishes, workers and families in areas like Belle Glade, Pahokee and Indiantown where the need remains great. Last year this collection generated $96,395. Your continued support of this upcoming collection makes a way for our brothers and sisters to experience the profound love of Christ which sets man free in knowledge, love and service of Him.
