A Message from our Pastor on DSA 2013
Dear Friend in Christ:
As pastor of St. Thomas
More Catholic Church and as
a parishioner, I ask you to join
me in making a generous pledge
to the annual Diocesan Services
Appeal 2013. An indispensable
part of Living Our Faith is
Giving In Love. Your donation
to the campaign becomes a concrete
act of mercy and ministry
Bishop Barbarito Message on DSA 2013
One of my favorite passages
from Sacred Scriptures reflecting
the Year of Faith and the
New Evangelization focuses on
the story of the mustard seed.
“It is like a mustard seed, that
when it is sown
in the ground, is the smallest
for a person or a family. Our
purpose in Christ is to touch
people and change their lives for
the better. Christ Himself commissioned
the Church to carry
on His work:
The Spirit of the Lord is upon
me, because he has anointed
me to proclaim good news to
the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim
liberty to the captives and recovering
of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty those who are
oppressed, to proclaim the
year of the Lord's favor.
(Luke 4:18-19)
We have a heart for the economically
and socially poor,
especially for those who are
most vulnerable among us--
the unborn child in the womb,
single parents, widows and
orphans, the unemployed, the
destitute and homeless persons
on our streets, those who left
their homes and families behind
to find work in South Florida,
the incarcerated, the lonely old
and those who carry the heavy
of all the seeds on the earth.
But once it is sown, it springs
up and becomes the largest
of plants and puts forth large
branches, so that the birds of
the sky can dwell in its shade”
(Mk 4: 31-32).
Your generous gift to the
DSA 2013 makes it possible
for Our Catholic Church to
reach thousands in the name of
Christ. Thank you in advance
for your faithfulness, your
prayers for the Church and for
donating some of your hardearned
money to extend God's
reign of Justice and Peace to so
many in our own local communities.
Yours in His service,
