So as you can observe from the
sample of graphs our ability to
conform to CDF Directive 19,
which requires back to back
postings in the same locality is
difficult at best. The ANZAC MT
community is in a similar
position, and while the movement
of ACLO and TUASSC to Western
Australia will go some way to
alleviate this problem there is
much still to be done.
Discussions on Class Basing are
ongoing and while this may result
in some initial turmoil it would
certainly alleviate some of the
locality restrictions placed upon
us, subject to the re-location of
all support infrastructures with
the relocated seagoing units.
The current manpower shortages
also affect our ability to provide
suitable replacements or respite
from the rigours of sea. Within the
workforce structure there are 2
factors built in to cover our
Advanced Training Requirement
(ATR) and our Training Ineffectives
(TI) to try and provide a suitable
number of personnel to fill both
sea and shore positions and
allow some additional fat to cover
these 2 requirements.
It can not, however, factor in
those personnel that become
ineffective due to a medical or
compassionate circumstance.
These issues place additional
strain on the workforce and will
lead to some members being
returned to sea quicker than
would normally occur. A graphic
illustration of this is below, which
looks at the ANZMT personnel at
sea and ashore Vis the total that
are available for sea:
