Theatre trip - The Importance of Being Earnest
When the bell sounded for the start of break, we all raced down to the form room to get ready
to leave. Some people had already brought sweets, which were being eaten. We all assembled
in the small hall, took a register, and then walked to the Playhouse. Before we watched the
play itself, we listened to a short talk from some of the actors, and the stage managers. It was
interesting to learn about all of the work which goes into producing a play on stage. After that
we went into our own roped off area for lunch.
After we had eaten we went back to the main theatre, and took our seats, and settled down to
watch the play. It was very well made, and the actors did a good job of portraying the
characters. During the interval we had a drink and then went back in to watch the second half.
This part was much shorter than the first section, so we were soon standing up to leave.
I really enjoyed going to the theatre and it was a good first experience of a play performed live.

Activities Week and Work Experience
This year we will come back from our May holiday and go straight into a whole range of
exciting activities for Years 7-9.
Year 7 will be off to enjoy the delights of either France or Germany, and then in the following
week on June 11th and 12th will be taking part in both the Real Game to get an insight into
the delights of the world of work and budgeting your finances, and a geography field trip to
Lulworth Cove.
Year 8 have a range of activities to cover all points of the curriculum from a visit to Salisbury
Playhouse, a science day at Langford Lakes, and a geography trip to Longleat, through to a
focus day on business and enterprise in school and a day at work with their parents.
Year 9: Monday and Tuesday will be spent on an overnight camp led by Discover Adventure
with a focus on team building and problem solving plus a cooking competition and a climbing
wall. This is then followed by the three Industry Days that all older girls will remember as an
opportunity to solve real life problems from the business world in Salisbury.
Year 10 have their school exams during this week but then have a week of work experience
to look forward to from the 8th-12th June. If there are any questions about these activities,
