Skouras Asks More Work
From FWC's Managers
LOS ANGELES—Charles P.
Skouras, president
of National Theatres and Fox West
Coast, at a meeting with theatre managers
of the FWC's southern California division on
Tuesday (17), asked that they work harder
not only for the company's benefit but their
own as well.
The meeting with the managers followed
a two-day conference with district managers,
at which Skouras discu.ssed the forthcoming
product and predicted an increase
in business due to many "outstanding" films
being readied.
FWC concessions merchandising policies
would also be revamped, according to Skouras.
Hereafter, the circuit will ab.sorb shortages
previously covered by the theatre managers,
and the house heads' pai'tlcipation would be
reduced to offset the extra expenses involved.
Edwin F. Zabel. general manager of the
chain, agreed with Skouras that the managers
should adhere to company operating
procedures and exert a greater vigilance and
better business methods to the operation of
the houses.
