Fitness After Fifty (Adults)<br />

Using music from Sinatra to Swing to<br />

<strong>the</strong> Supremes, this comprehensive<br />

class has low-impact cardiovascular<br />

conditioning, muscular strength work,<br />

and flexibility and range-<strong>of</strong>-motion exercises.<br />

We also do exercises designed<br />

to increase to improve balance, coordination,<br />

manual dexterity, and agility<br />

(both physical and mental). Your heart,<br />

lungs, muscles, balance, and energy<br />

will all improve - and you’ll have lots <strong>of</strong><br />

fun along <strong>the</strong> way! Open to full facility<br />

<strong>YMCA</strong> members only.<br />

Lifeguard Training (Ages 15+)<br />

This class certifies students in Lifesaving,<br />

CPR-Pro and First-Aid. All students<br />

must pass a pre-course test on <strong>the</strong> first<br />

day to be admitted and must be 15<br />

years old by <strong>the</strong> last day <strong>of</strong> class. Students<br />

must pass written test with 80%<br />

correct per section and water test with<br />

100% pr<strong>of</strong>iciency. Each class time consists<br />

<strong>of</strong> water and class work. Attendance<br />

is mandatory at all classes.<br />

Pre-registration required! Fee includes<br />

all supplies and certification. Here are<br />

<strong>the</strong> skill requirements needed in order<br />

to take this class: (1) Be able to swim<br />

continuously 300 yards, which is 12<br />

laps in our pool; (2) Complete 25 yard<br />

swim and brick retrieval; (3) Be able to<br />

tread water for 2-minutes.<br />

Getting Started with Medicare<br />

If you are approaching 65 or are just<br />

going on Medicare for <strong>the</strong> first time,<br />

you will need to take this opportunity to<br />

gain a basic understanding <strong>of</strong> how <strong>the</strong><br />

Medicare system really works. Learn all<br />

about Parts A, B, C, and D, what <strong>the</strong>y<br />

cover and what <strong>the</strong>y do not. You will<br />

also learn <strong>the</strong> differences between <strong>the</strong><br />

original Medicare Plan and <strong>the</strong> Advantage<br />

Learn to Meditate (Adults)<br />

The practice <strong>of</strong> meditation has been<br />

utilized for thousands <strong>of</strong> years because<br />

it <strong>of</strong>fers enormous benfits to <strong>the</strong> body,<br />

mind and spirit. Not only does it relax<br />

<strong>the</strong> muscles and reduce tension, studies<br />

show it improves memory, as well as <strong>the</strong><br />

ability to concentrate. Learn how to be<br />

mindful <strong>of</strong> your thoughts, increasing self<br />

awareness and personal power. Perform<br />

exercises to help you ease into a calm,<br />

focused state <strong>of</strong> awareness and participate<br />

in short meditations. Then you can<br />

start meditating on your own.<br />
