Gymnastics<br />

Led by three-year lettermen Fred Kasch Jr. and Gary Becker, the<br />

<strong>San</strong> <strong>Diego</strong> <strong>State</strong> gymnastic squad opened its season with a defeat by<br />

Long Beach, 1962 CCAA champions. As <strong>Del</strong> Sud went to press the<br />

Aztec gymnasts won 3 and lost 2, winning against <strong>San</strong> Francisco<br />

<strong>State</strong>, Brigham Young <strong>University</strong>, and El Camino College while<br />

losing to Long Beach <strong>State</strong> and Los Angeles <strong>State</strong>. Kasch is the<br />

CCAA All-Around events champion while Becker's specialty is the<br />

trampoline. The all-around competition involves six Olympic events:<br />

free exercise, side horse, long horse, horizontal bar, parallel bars<br />

and the stilI rings.<br />
