This note applies to all churches: It is only possible to visit the
historical churches when there are no services taking place.
The Cathedral [7]
The cathedral, built by Johann Dietzenhofer between 1704 and
1712, is one of the most impressive baroque buildings in Fulda.
The cathedral’s great religious significance is due to the tomb of
St. Boniface which is still today a place of pilgrimage.
Concerts in the Cathedral
Prof. Hans-Jürgen Kaiser, the musical director of the cathedral,
organises regular organ recitals – a chance to enjoy the full
sound of the recently restored organ. Besides choral and organ
concerts in the evening, there are also matinee concerts
from 12.05- 12.35 am on every Saturday in May, June, September,
October and in Advent.
Please note that on these
days, from 11.30 am onwards
the cathedral is only open
to people who are attending
the concerts.
