MIDGET RACING — FOUR-CYLINDER
The Team Mopar open-wheel blitz in 2003 included some
impressive midget racing accolades. Mopar powered more
than a dozen midget victories under USAC, BADGER, and
other sanctions.
Mopar also took the reins as title sponsor of two thrilling
Mopar Twin 25’s events held at Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway
and Indianapolis Raceway Park. Tracy Hines scored a dominating
victory for Team Mopar in one of the Irwindale Twins, while
Dave Steele notched a Mopar victory for the title sponsor at
the Indianapolis Twins. Steele was the victor of a
record midget purse of over $60,000 when
Truck Series, thanks to teams like the No. 1 Mopar-sponsored Dodge
And who could have missed the No. 12 Dodge Intrepid team and
driver Ryan Newman’s slew of Winston Cup victories and poles.
But Mopar really came through for the fendered crowd in the
small-town bullrings and bumpy roundabouts across the United
States and Canada.
Scott Lynch gave Dodge its first Winston West title since
1976. He scored three wins and picked up three poles on
his way to also picking up the Raybestos Rookie of the
Year title in his division.
