78 Scholars are working on their research<br />

work<br />

80 scholars have completed their doctoral<br />

programme and joined their parent<br />

departments<br />

10 scholars have submitted their theses for<br />

external review<br />

01 scholar has been selected as a best<br />

researcher of the university<br />

annually. Major organizations and universities<br />

have registered increase in their R&D by<br />

absorbing specialized trained manpower. Under<br />

this programme 2000 scholarships are being<br />

awarded into following two broad categories:<br />

90% Overseas Scholarship Category<br />

In the 90 percent category, 450 scholarships are<br />

awarded every year for Master / MPhil leading to<br />

PhD programme in technologically advanced<br />

countries e.g, Austria, China, France, Germany,<br />

Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Thailand, Italy,<br />

New Zealand etc. that have no/nominal/special<br />

tuition fee rates for HEC. Scholars have<br />

proceeded for higher studies in two batches.<br />

Physical Progress and Achievements in Year<br />

<strong>2008</strong>-09:<br />

During year <strong>2008</strong>-09 total 29 scholars completed<br />

their doctorate and 10 submitted their thesis for<br />

external reviewers.<br />

Overseas Scholarships in<br />

MS/MPhil Leading to PhD<br />

in Selected Fields, Phase-II<br />

The Scheme provides PhD level training of 2000<br />

candidates in leading foreign universities. This<br />

nine year programme was approved by ECNEC in<br />

August 2006.<br />

The Scheme has generated considerable<br />

intellectual activity as groups of scientists,<br />

technologists and social scientists are engaged in<br />

publishing their research work and a good<br />

number of papers and studies being produced<br />
