COACHES
HEAD COACH JOE AUGUSTINE
15th Season
228-137-26 (.568)
Joe Augustine begins his 15th season as head coach of the Rams. He brings more than 25 years of
experience to the Rhode Island Hockey program both as a player and a coach. Under Augustine,
Rhode Island has enjoyed 14-consecutive winning seasons and has established itself nationally as a
solid, well-respected hockey program.
Augustine began his coaching career in 1983 as an assistant at Tolman High School in Pawtucket, RI.
After two seasons, he became the head coach at Shea High School also located in Pawtucket, RI.
Under his tutelage, the Shea High School Raiders skated to an impressive 19-1 record, winning both
division and state titles. Augustine went on to spend two seasons as an assistant coach at Brown
University and then one year as the head coach for the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI).
Augustine joined the URI Rams in 1989.
While working as a pro advanced scout for the 95-96 Cornwall Ace's (AHL), the top farm club for the
Quebec Nordiques (NHL), Augustine was a member of the NCAA Organizational Committee for the
1995 NCAA Ice Hockey Tournament in Providence, RI.
Born and raised in Chicago, IL, Augustine attended and played hockey at Saint Rita High School. He
went on to play Jr.-A for Austin, MN in the United States Hockey League. In 59 games, Augustine
tallied 10 goals, 43 assists, and 189 penalty minutes. Those stats earned him a spot on the United
States Jr. All-American Team selected by the NHL. He was also a member of the US Jr. National Team
that participated in the World Jr. Tournament held in Winnipeg, Canada.
In 1976, Augustine was selected by the Atlanta Flames (now Calgary) in the seventh round and by the
Cleveland Crusaders of the World Hockey Association in the fifth round. He opted for Boston College
helping the Eagles to a Beanpot Championship in 1976, an ECAC Championship and a second place
finish in the 1978 NCAA Tournament held in Providence, RI.

COACHES
In his three seasons with the Eagles, Augustine scored 27 goals and 77 assists for 104 points. He
became one of only six defensemen in BC history to join the 100-point club, and amassed 196 penalty
minutes.
Augustine turned pro after his junior year and played six seasons with the Calgary Flames, New York
Rangers and the New Jersey Devil organizations. Augustine earned a B.S. in public administration
during the off season. Augustine resides in North Scituate, RI with his wife Jewell (a former Ice
Capades skater), his 15 year-old daughther Jaclyn, and 10 year-old son Jon.
He serves as the teams' representative to the ECHA.
A four-year starter for Rhode Island from 1990-1994, Rigamonti finished his college career as the fifth
all-time leading scorer with 58 goals, 78 assists, and 136 points. The Philadelphia native was cocaptain
ASSISTANT COACH JOHNATHAN FAHEY
Coach Fahey begins his fifth season with the Rams as assistant coach. He played as a goalie for
Rhode Island from 1992-1994, after transferring from Pottsdam State following his sophomore year.
Fahey received his B.S. in Turf Management from the University of Rhode Island in 1994.
with a 3.01 GAA and a 90% save percentage in 77 games. These accomplishments rank him 4th
all time in UVM history. The UVM goaltender still holds school records which include having the
most consecutive minutes played without being scored upon at 152.33 minutes, as well as
recording the most saves in one game, 52, against New Hampshire. Dave continued his career
playing on the U.S. Olympic Team, in the AHL and with the Boston Bruins during the 1975-1976
season.
