TRAINER PROFILE<br />
Mr Derek Aldridge<br />
Technical Trainer<br />
<strong>United</strong> <strong>Kingdom</strong> <strong>Hydrographic</strong> <strong>Office</strong><br />
Derek joined the Training team in 2006. His background includes all areas of cartography<br />
ranging from traditional production techniques to traditional and digital compilation. Derek<br />
has over thirty years of experience having joined the UKHO in 1975.<br />
Derek spent several years in the Digital Training and Support section, providing technical<br />
advice on all matters relating to digital cartography. His role included liaison with software<br />
companies such as CARIS, Laser Scan, ESRI and Dkart.<br />
Derek has visited several <strong>Hydrographic</strong> <strong>Office</strong>s where he has provided technical solutions to<br />
issues regarding digital chart production and the exchange of repromat data.<br />

Mr Ken Blagdon<br />
ENC Technical Trainer<br />
<strong>United</strong> <strong>Kingdom</strong> <strong>Hydrographic</strong> <strong>Office</strong><br />
Ken joined the <strong>training</strong> team in 2004 where he has specialised in delivering ENC <strong>training</strong> to<br />
UKHO staff and International students at UKHO and abroad<br />
Ken has over twenty years of experience having joined the UKHO in 1987. As a compilation<br />
draughtsman he specialised in charts of UK home waters most noticeably the North Sea.<br />
On joining the embryonic ENC Production Branch in 1996, he was tasked with producing<br />
<strong>training</strong> manuals with which to train new ENC entrants, IT staff and International colleagues.<br />
Ken’s qualifications include a BTEC in Cartography and Surveying and City and Guilds in<br />
Computer Aided Draughting and Design.<br />
