Mrs Paulene Hocking<br />
Technical Trainer<br />

Paulene was appointed to her current position of Training <strong>Office</strong>r in May 2003 and has since<br />
achieved the CIPD Certificate in Training and Development. She has joint responsibility to<br />
design, develop and deliver <strong>training</strong> to new recruits and international students. Paulene co<br />
presented <strong>training</strong> courses abroad to help improve and enhance learning capacity within<br />
other organisations. She is currently involved in the planning and designing of the <strong>training</strong><br />
to implement a new system to the core business. Paulene’s experience includes working as<br />
a compiler in the area of South East Asia , plus responsibilities for Singapore including work<br />
experience in the Singapore <strong>Hydrographic</strong> <strong>Office</strong>. She has knowledge in both traditional and<br />
digital compilation, being involved early on in the digital system still used today. In the Defence<br />
Area, Paulene worked on developing a totally digital product for the Naval Merlin Helicopter.<br />
Paulene has undertaken various courses at the local college and is continuing her<br />
development in CIPD.<br />

Martin joined the Training Team in 2003 and is jointly responsible for the design and delivery<br />
of <strong>training</strong> to new recruits and International students. Martin has over thirty years of experience<br />
joining UKHO in 1976. His career in cartography ranged from responsiblilty for the depiction<br />
of all National and International cables on Admiralty charts, managing the <strong>Hydrographic</strong> Data<br />
Centre and the Chart Correction <strong>Office</strong>.<br />
He has an ONC in Surveying and Cartography and has recently gained a CIPD Certificate in<br />
Training Practice.<br />
