4. Regulations and Standards
The Installation shall conform in all respects to Indian Standard Code of Practice for Electrical wiring
installation IS:732 - 1989. It shall also be in conformity with the current Indian Electricity Rules and
the Regulations and requirements of the Local Electric Supply Authority is so far as these become
applicable to the installation. Wherever this specification calls for a higher standard of materials
and/or workmanship than those required by any of the above regulations, this specification shall
take precedence over the said regulations and standards. In general, the materials, equipment and
workmanship not covered by the above shall conform to the following Indian Standards, unless
otherwise called for.
IS:335-1993 : Transformer Oil
IS:371-1979 : Ceiling Roses
IS:374-1977 : Electrical Ceiling type Fans & Regulators (3rd rev.)
IS:398(Pt-I)-1976 : Aluminium conductors for overhead transmission purposes.
IS:692-1973 : Paper insulated lead sheathed cables for electricity supply.

IS:694-1990 : PVC insulated cables for voltages upto and including 1100
